Outside of its Biennial Conferences, the SCL hosts a series of special events from time to time....
Join us online from 6 to 7 August 2020 for a Virtual Festival Celebrating Caribbean languages. This exciting event will feature performances and presentations from among our membership.
Persons interesting in participating should contact secretary@scl-online.net before 2 August 2020.
The Festival programme and other details will be posted later.
This conference was designed to commemorate the life and work of Professor Mervyn Coleridge Alleyne, a distinguished scholar who died on November 23, 2016, aged 83. He is one of the earliest scholars of Caribbean origin to engage in the discipline of Linguistics and has made original and valuable contributions to that discipline as well as to a range of others associated with the study of the Caribbean. The conference was held at the Mona Campus of The University of The West Indies, the institution with which he had been associated practically all of his adult life.
